Any other information.
The West Cork Mackerel Yawl is a half-decked gaff cutter, with topsail, about 31ft. long, used for fishing in West Cork in the first half of the 20th century. The best-known of the type was the Shamrock, designed by (Old) Henry Skinner and built by him at his yard in Baltimore in 1910 for Mick Paddy O’Sullivan of Colla, Schull. Shamrock was renowned as a racing boat with many wins at regattas. Her hull measurements were taken by Liam Hegarty and used in the construction of the Noble Shamrock and a number of other replicas in the 1990s.
